After-school Programme

After School (Prep A – Level 4)
Students in the after school programme (depending on age & level) attend classes between 3 & 5 days per week incorporating Saturday afternoons. 1 half day per week during school hours is included for students from Prep A to Level 1. Students from level 2 to 4 attend all classes after school hours. Performing is an integral part of the program, giving the students the valuable experience of rehearsing and performing in a large company environment.
Prep A (9 – 10 years) ~ Students attend 3 days per week for approximately 8 hours
The entry level to the programme. In this level basic stance, arm placement and postural concepts are consolidated. Setting a good base for future training. Rhythmic exercises and floor barre are also incorporated into the curriculum. Contemporary, Character & Spanish Dance, Composition Studies and Drama are also studied.

Prep B (10-11 years) ~ Students attend 3 days per week for approximately 9 hours
Once the basic stance, arm placement and postural concepts are consolidated, students are ready to progress to more positions of feet and arms; a few more technical steps are added. Rhythmic exercises and floor barre are extended. Basic pointe studies commence in 4th term. Contemporary, Character & Spanish Dance, Composition Studies and Drama are also studied.

Prep C / Level 1 (11 – 12 years) ~ Students attend 4 days per week for approximately 11 hours
Introduces the elementary exercises for mastering the placement of the body, the legs, the arms and head. Developing elementary skills in the co-ordination of steps. First the students execute the exercises while standing facing the barre; holding it with both hands. Later as strength builds, students will commence to work with one hand at the barre. Pointe work increases as strength builds. Contemporary, Character & Spanish Dance, Composition Studies and Drama are also studied.

Level 2 & 3 (12 – 15 years) ~ Students attend 5 days per week for approximately 14 hours
During this period of study, students repeat the former exercises in an increased number, stressing the development of strength in the legs and feet through exercises on half toe and on pointe. Co-ordination between movements is beginning to develop. Contemporary, Composition, Character Spanish & Drama are also studied.

Level 4 (14 – 17 years) ~ Students attend 5 days per week for approximately 16 hours
In this level the study of former exercise commences in the centre work. Pirouette and exercises entournant commence. More complex combinations are included. Contemporary, Character & Spanish Dance, Composition Studies and Drama are also studied.
