ACT ONE
INTO THE WOODS – Part 1
Join us for a captivating ballet performance featuring our Preprimary to Senior students enrolled in extension classes. As the curtain rises, you’ll be transported to a serene forest filled with gnomes, woodland creatures, bees, butterflies, and the gentle presence of water and tree nymphs. Witness the magic of the forest as its inhabitants awaken and come together in a joyful celebration of movement. Choreographed by Jaimie Ford, Paige Puckridge, Aly Byrne and Tamice Puckridge.
AURORA
A beautiful performance of Aurora’s dream variation from the ballet Sleeping Beauty by Youth Ballet WA student, Grace Cusworth.
GYPSIES
A beautiful piece choreographed by Aly Byrne that shows seven spirited girls twirl and leap in vibrant unison, embodying the wild grace of gypsy dancers. Draped in flowing skirts and decorated with jingling bangles, they all move with freedom and fire. With swirling colors, elegant arm movements and deliberate rhythm, they bring ancient traditions to life—dancing not just for show, but as a living pulse of passion, sisterhood, and soul.
LITTLE RED HIDING HOOD
This piece is a retelling of the Red Riding Hood classic. A group of girls wearing red hoods are magical inhabitants of the enchanted forest. Using their magic they bring to life the mushrooms to distract the Big Bad Wolf and make their get away.
SHADOWS
Set to the striking music of Felbomlaszott Mentökocsi by Venetian Snares, Shadows explores the idea of being followed – not by a person, but by your own shadow. Through sweeping movement and long black skirts, the dancers reflect on what it feels like to be stuck in the shadows and, at times, to become the shadow itself. This piece offers our Grade 8 – Senior Contemporary students a chance to explore a more dramatic and moody side of contemporary dance, encouraging thoughtful expression and emotional depth. Choreographed by Jaimie Ford and Aly Byrne.
ACT TWO
INTO THE WOODS – Part 2
In the second act, the celebration continues as our dancers fully embody their unique roles. Watch as the water and tree nymphs come to life as ethereal spirits, while the woodland creatures gather in a playful dance. This vibrant ensemble culminates in a grand finale, where all nymphs, creatures, flowers and gnomes unite in a spirited celebration. Choreographed by Jaimie Ford, Paige Puckridge, Aly Byrne and Tamice Puckridge.
FANNING OF THE WINGS
The Bata de colas were dresses from 1880s and the gypsy flamenco dances use them to mimic the ladies of Madrid referring to them as a snail trail or caterpillars. With this in mind, this piece was inspired by the idea of caterpillars coming out of chrysalis and turning into butterflies. This piece was created by Youth Ballet WA’s Spanish Specialist, Lynn Martlew
SHREK
Join us in the swamp for a boogie with Shrek and all his fairytale friends. Get ready to shimmy and shake in the land of Duloc with our Musical Theatre and Jazz students! Choreographed by Andrea Ponga-Morgan.
MUSHROOM
CAN’T STOP THE FEELING – FINALE
